What is the European Health Insurance Card?
It confirms your right to health insurance and allows you to benefit from the management of care in Europe (1). Thus, the doctor, pharmacist or hospital (public health), your costs will be covered under the same conditions as for people in the country where you make your living room (direct payment, reimbursement ...) .
In practice
It is personal and nominative: each his, even children under 16 years.
It is valid for one year.
It is free.
It must be requested from your health insurance fund, or by logging into your account Amel (www.ameli.fr), at least two weeks before your departure will be sent by post to your home. Below this limit, the Health Insurance can provide you with a provisional certificate valid for three months.
No document is to provide for it.
Attention European card does not replace the Carte Vitale.
