Obviously, to take maximum advantage of the fiber contained in oats, it must pursue the forms of unrefined oats, as oat bran or oatmeal complete.
Caution, however, do not eat every day large quantities of oat bran. Ideally alternate, adding a spoonful of oat bran to your cereal breakfast and another day a spoonful on a salad or a pasta dish, or in yoghurt.
Oat bran should be avoided in children under 5 years may interfere with their digestion.
In contrast, oatmeal, even complete, do not generally pose a problem.
Against cholesterol: establish a whole way of life
Caution, eating oat fiber provides an additional weapon against cholesterol but does not replace other treatments, whether drugs such as statins, or cholesterol diet.
For the record, it includes a limitation of saturated fats (butter, ham ...), in favor of monounsaturated fatty acids or poly-unsaturated (mainly vegetable oils), increased omega-3 (fish), fruits, vegetables ... and whole grains!
The fight against cholesterol also goes by the loss of weight and practice regular physical activity.
