Stapleton schools are in the Denver Public School district. Stapleton’s home elementary school is Westerly Creek which was built in 2003 and resides in the neighborhood itself. The school shares joint facilities and play areas with another school, the Odyssey Charter School. The Odyssey Charter school is a K-8 “expeditionary learning” school which focuses on teaching through action and direct student experience and participation. This means students are not sitting in desks listening to lectures and practicing worksheets, a typical day would include trips outside to investigate the area around the school for a nature project. Enrollment is by lottery system.
The home middle school for Stapleton is the William R. Roberts school. William R. Roberts school is also K-8 and is located in the neighborhood itself.
Admissions to the DSST are by lottery, but students must complete an admission application that contains short essay questions (for example, Why do you want to attend DSST?). They also ask for household income information. Admissions are only for students in 9th grade and a few in 10th, they do not do admissions for 11th or 12th grades. In 2008, DSST is set to offer a middle school (grades 6-8) program. School Accountability RatingsElementary
